Miranda achieved painful clarity after her grandmother died and realized how disgusting and worthless her existence had become. Cutting herself off completely from all that she knew she set about reconstructing herself into a real person, surrounding herself with employees she trusted and to her shock who were also true friends. When she finally starts to let loose her ironclad control she notices a man for the first time in years and is maybe willing to risk having him. But what if he’s not the stranger she thinks?
Nathan has had a crush on Miranda for years. She is always his last stop of the day on his fed ex delivery route, just in case she suddenly notices him. Nate is not your average fed ex driver though. He has a few secrets of his own. When Miranda finally deigns to notice him in a bar he’s elated. But can a woman really compartmentalize her life so much she doesn’t recognize a man at her doorstep daily? Let the seduction of Miranda begin.
I sincerely hope no one on this planet is as messed up as Miranda. Her childhood, while enviable in some ways, was downright criminal. No wonder she turned into the creature of pleasure that she was. With more baggage than Vuitton and his friends, she tries to start over. But the paparazzi won’t let her. Her own memories won’t let her. She decides to take a chance on Nate because the draw is so strong she can’t not.
This was a very well done read that just happened to have some smoking hot sex and chemistry going on at the same time. Both Nate and Miranda were well-defined and while they didn’t appear to have a lot in common they actually did. While the chemistry was overwhelming for them both Nate made the mature decision to back off on that aspect and get to know one another as people. That totally threw Miranda and forced her to closely examine herself and what she had made herself into. No one likes to look that closely into the mirror. With a lot of twists and turns, snarky family and friends, and some good intentions gone wrong this story kept me glued to my eReader. If this author's first attempt at a novel is this good I can’t wait to read what she comes out with next.
