CyBRG Files Book 2

And the story continues. As our recently liberated cyborgs struggle to live again with the radical changes made to them, Unit 78, AKA Rich, goes on a mission to save an admiral's daughter, even though he and his comrades are no longer part of the military. Let's hope the daughter is nothing like her father.

Kyrin is nothing like her sire and is determined to help others. That determination gets her into a major mess when she is taken hostage. She knows her father will try to rescue her, but will that help be too late?

Most people are exactly like their parents or are deliberately the exact opposite. That's what Kyrin is. When she and Rich meet it is under horrific circumstances, she's drugged, and there is no good solution to the problems they face. But there is also an instant connection and trust. That sees them through to the hoped-for-conclusion of the rescue mission. But Kyrin isn't safe then, either.

Rich was a nice guy when he was human, and he's a nice guy now. Unfortunately most humans don't see him that way, but Kyrin never seems to notice the "enhancements" and only sees the man. When the mission is done, and Rich finds out Kyrin's fate, he is a man with a mission of his own, and nothing is going to stand in his way.

Loved this book, and really loved the connection between Rich and Kyrin. The story had some disturbing elements to be sure, but what is life without trials and tribulations. I just wished that people were more wholesome in the future, not radically deviant. The author nicely conveyed the freak show that was the cult as well as the desperation felt by Kyrin and Rich. The ending was tense as well as romantic, and I so look forward to more about these men who are attempting to rebuild their lives which were stolen from them.

Book Blurb for UNIT 78: RESCUED

A cyborg soldier with one mission:

To rescue an innocent girl from a vicious cult

But in order to fulfill his duty, he must do the unthinkable.

Can Rich and Kyrin find each other when they are lost in the Breeding Compound?

Unit 78, formerly Corporal Richard Hardgraves, is a Cyborg with a mission: to rescue the Admiral's daughter from the dreaded Tr'Low Cult on Beacon 5. The Tr'Lows have a prophesy that a half-metal man will come from the sky and father the perfect child on a chosen bride--Rich tells himself he will play the part just long enough to grab the girl and run.

Kyrin Pierce is a Peace Keeper with IPKA--the Interstellar Peace Keeping Association. Lured to Beacon 5 by a fake call, she was captured and now she is being prepared for an unspeakable ceremony. She too plays into the Tr'Low prophecy because of her flame-red hair. As the priestesses of the cult inject her full of hormones to drive her wild with need, she has nearly given up hope of escape.

Rich might be more metal than man but he still has a heart and when he sees what the Kyrin has been through, he aches for her pain. But in order to get her out of the Tr'Low compound, he must do the unthinkable...and give the cultists what they want by taking Kyrin in their public ceremony.

Kyrin doesn't care that the man who has come for her is a cyborg, she only knows that her body needs him desperately. And after he rescues her, her heart needs him too.

But Kyrin's father, Admiral Pierce, doesn't approve of his daughter loving a "metal monster." When he separates them and sends Kyrin to a hospital to take care of her "problem" can Rich rescue her again...in time to save their baby?

Half man...half metal...all heart. The CyBRG series by Evangeline Anderson and Mina Carter.
