When is love unhealthy? Sage grew up with parents who had an unwholesome relationship. Their utter devotion left her on the outside looking in, and her life as a child was as close to neglect as you can get, if not downright criminal. As a result, Sage is wary of relationships in general. Her instant connection with Beaumont is comforting as well as terrifying, because she knows it can go too far.
Beaumont is severely damaged by a childhood incident, and his protective instincts prevented him from sharing the truth of his experience with his family. As a result, he's remote on the outside, but uber alert on the inside. He watches over his younger siblings but doesn't engage. He has phobias and fears but they are concealed. When he meets Sage he is instantly calmed and centered and unknowingly starts to rely on her presence to center himself. While he feels more than brotherly towards her, a lot more, he holds that back in fear of driving her away. But what happens when she goes anyway?
As usual, the author surgically removed my heart while remotely activating my hormones. Sage and Beaumont were quite the pair, and all the roadblocks they had to overcome to reach a place where they could be in a healthy relationship was staggering. The Clarkson's are present en masse when it mattered, and I totally inhaled this engrossing story of healing, explosive chemistry and forever love. Don't miss out on "Too Beautiful to Break".
A love of a lifetime . . .
Leaving Belmont Clarkson is the hardest thing Sage Alexander has ever done. From the moment they met, she knew Belmont was the one, and getting up close and personal with him on his family's epic road trip has taken her desire to a new, even hotter level. But there's no way she can go there---not without revealing secrets that could devastate them both.
Losing Sage is not an option. Belmont's heart is hers, has always been hers. He knows she's hiding something from him, but nothing will stand in his way of telling her just how much she means to him. Finding her is easy---saving her from her past could cost him everything.
