Tied With a Bow

I was only familiar with one author in this holiday release. Of all the stories my favorite by far was Lora Leigh's contribution (the author I'm familiar with). As usual the breeds are sexy and yummy alphas. This added tidbits from previous stories and hinted at future liaisons to come. If you are a Lora Leigh Breeds series fan it's a must read. If you are new to Breeds it will definitely get you hooked.

The story "At First Light" was the readers' first glimpse into a new world and the Etherlin. Very intriguing. I will be seeking out Kimberly Frost's upcoming "All that Bleeds". This is the story that is hinted at between vantara Merrick and his muse Alissa as we follow Nathan and Kate on their journey towards a happy ending. That book (being released in January) is on my wish list.

The other submission, Eileen Wilks Lupi story, kind of left me confused since it is apparently in the middle of a series. There was a lot of detail and politics that I wasn't familiar with and I had to work harder to follow the story. But the story itself was well-written, and I felt for Benedict meeting the family for the first time. His "introduction" as it were is one for the family history books to be sure.

The first story seemed somewhat out of place in that is set in the past. A holiday story to be sure but "Upon a Midnight Clear" was of a more innocent time. Not that the beheadings of the French revolution were trivial, but society was much more easily defined. The unwilling seduction of fallen angel Lucien by the virgin Aimee was a sweet read with the usual accompaniments of societal pigeonholing and the dastardly villain intent on deflowering the maiden.

I always love an anthology and this was no exception. I was introduced to new authors and new worlds while getting to visit an old favorite. Great for those five minutes of downtime between wrapping presents and collapsing into bed exhausted.
