Texas Tangle

Nikki’s has always strived to make everyone happy around her. And has forgotten about herself. Her ex-husband left her almost broke. Her brother took care of the rest. Now left with a ranch without furniture and an overdrawn bank account, not to mention her destroyed credit rating, Nikki is left with her beloved horses. When sexy neighbor Dillon Barnett stops to help her with her broken down truck, and his foster brother Brett Anderson, now a cop, shows up at her burgled home, she gets the definite feeling that both men are interested. But why now? She’s known both for years and neither has made a move.

Dillon and Brett came to blows over Nikki back in high school. Both men have had feelings for her for years. But she ended up marrying someone else while the two of them fought between themselves. Years later, Nikki is divorced but leery of men. And with good reason. As Brett conceals his feelings to give Dillon a shot at the woman they both want, his desires are still evident to Nikki. And she’s having trouble rationalizing the fact that she has feelings for the two men at the same time. The expected thing would be to choose, but what if she can’t? Is there a way that all three can have a happily ever after.

This story was totally different from other ménages I’ve read in the past. The story focused a lot on Nikki and her trials and tribulations that evolved from her inability to stand up for herself. But we also got glimpses into the relationship between Dillon and Brett, and the dynamics that formed their unbreakable friendship and love for one another as brothers. There is a lot of pain in this tale, and it was difficult to read at times. One wonders how people go on with so much weighing them down.

There wasn’t a conscious decision to form a threesome. It was more a dare thrown out to see the reaction, and it dawned on everyone that it might be the solution to an unsolvable problem. Dillon’s grandmother stole the show when she gave her opinion at the dining room table. I about lost it. A very emotional story that explores how a ménage can develop, and it’s not just for the thrill of kink. We watch all three parties change, grow and make discoveries that help them mature and realize what they really want.
