How strong are you? DJ Poe is one of the strongest women around due to her past and what she chose to do with her future. But her past won’t let her go, and now she finds herself in a dangerous situation but she’s not alone. A chopper pilot in service to her country, DJ made some good friends and found herself adopted by the Walsh brothers Andy and Dev. And these men mean business when they say they’ll do anything for her and that includes support by the rest of their family.
The newest hire of the SSI and the first “official” female operative, DJ is sucked back into her horrible past to rescue her mother from the monster known as her father. This is how she meets Tweeter “Ace” Walsh; the man destined to help her heal. On her way to her new employment she stumbles into a crisis in the making and does what she does best, instantly cementing her acceptance at SSI. And it just gets more exciting from there.
As expected, this was a wonderful read. The author deals with DJs past and Ace’s wooing in a gentle manner and I appreciated that. The banding of all SSI to help one of their own was no surprise and the intrigue, protection of the good old U S of A and high tech wizardry was appreciated. All former characters from previous books were accounted for, and some revelations of previous bad guys revealed. New and old friends were met and an Alpha secure enough to let his woman be a warrior was born. This series is very detailed and complex and I like it that way. Fortunately, there are four more Walsh brothers that need to find their one as well as other characters I would like to see happily paired.
There were happy moments and sad, violent moments and tender ones. And plenty of steam. If some have trouble with violence against women, read with caution as DJ gets more than her share. While complex, I followed the story with no problem, and absolutely was overjoyed that Keely, trouble magnet that she is, was present. A must read.
Former helicopter pilot DJ Poe is a woman used to working in a man’s world and comfortable as SSI’s first female field operative. It’s her instant attraction to the company’s computer specialist that has her questioning her ability to overcome her past and develop an intimate relationship with a man.
Stuart “Tweeter” Walsh already admired DJ for saving his brother's life in Afghanistan, but when the tall, leggy, blonde goddess joins SSI, he falls instantly in love. All he has to do is convince the man-shy beauty to take a chance on him.
Take one alpha-male geek, add in one skittish female warrioress—throw them into close proximity and you have the perfect conditions for storm warnings.
