Secrets Volume 28

Sensual Cravings

The latest in the Secrets Anthologies, all four stories had something to offer in the way of a steamy, erotic read.

Pirates Possession by Juliet Burns was a historical that while it had no surprises, was full of excitement. Our less that gorgeous heroine grew beautiful in the eyes of our pirate as her spirit and personality seduced him as a siren’s body never could. A little bit of a statement about beauty being in the eyes of the beholder, and that true love grows stronger. Most touching story of the quartet.

Seducing Serena by Jennifer Lynne focused on an emotionally damaged woman using an unorthodox way to find a companion. Serena places a personals ad, and Nick Wade responds. But he’s not really interested in Serena as a person. He’s investigating a story for his newspaper. What neither expected was the attraction that couldn’t be denied. As their relationship grows, Nick’s subterfuge lurks in the background. Will its revelation be the end of them? Most emotional story of the quartet.

Mind Games by Kathleen Scott was the paranormal of the bunch. Set in a future where pollution has forced evolution in the form of Varti, our hero and heroine are mates with a mental link that Jade’s father will do anything to stop. Even murder. As Damien and Jade run for their lives with her father and his henchmen in pursuit, we are given a glimpse of a bleak, but fixable, future. Most imaginative story of the quartet.

Kiss Me at Midnight by Kate St. James is the last story in the anthology. Callie and Marc are co-hosts of a show that requires they be antagonistic. But Callie hangs onto her attitude after hours as protection from her attraction to playboy Marc. He’s goes through women at an alarming rate, and Callie doesn’t want any part of him. Well, maybe a few parts. Marc has a rep and has earned it but thinks Callie may be the one. Now he just has to get past her defenses, and he’s not above using any means to do so. This story was the most lighthearted of the quartet.

Book Blurb for Secrets Volume 28

Category: Contemporary,Fantasy,Historical, Mystery & Detective, Paranormal & Occult
When Lady Gertrude Fitzpatrick tries to bargain with a fierce pirate for escape across the water to her childhood home, she unwittingly becomes the possession of Merciless MacGowan, a fierce privateer on the run from Cromwell’s army. Ewan MacGowan has been betrayed and mistakenly exacts revenge on this proud noblewoman. He may have stolen the lady’s innocence, but buried beneath her plain exterior lies a hidden treasure he never thought to find: the true woman of his heart.
To My Readers from Juliet Burns: I must confess, dear readers, my pirate was inspired, not by Johnny Depp, but by a true Scotsman, Gerard Butler, as he appeared in the movie Beowulf & Grendel. Ooh those intense green eyes… Who wouldn’t want to be taken to his cabin and…possessed. But my pirate needed a woman whose spirit and stubbornness matched his own. I hope you’ll agree Lady Gertrude possesses a quiet strength and a cool head to anchor this pirate’s heart and free his soul.
Serena Hewitt has given up on love. Her experience has taught her there’s no such thing as ‘Mister Right’, but when she interviews for a potential partner she’s not prepared for her overpowering sexual attraction to Nicholas Wade, a funloving bachelor with badboy good looks and a determination to prove her wrong. But Nick’s hiding a secret that might just do the opposite. Can two people afraid of love risk exposing their hearts one last time?
To My Readers from Jennifer Lynne: My love affair with romance began when I discovered others out there had the same dream as I, that one day we might be swept off our feet by the perfect hero – someone to cut a swathe through the emotional pain that ties up our hearts, and set us free to love and live more fully. Nick is my perfect hero, and Serena so much in need of his unique brand of rescue that I couldn’t help but give him to her. I love their story, and I hope you do too!
Damien Storm is a Varti—a psychic who can connect to one special person to communicate with telepathically. For three years he’s tried in vain to get his Vartek partner, Jade, to acknowledge their link, but fear has made her keep him at a distance, even as he’s bared his heart and soul to her in order to gain her trust. He will do anything to know the sweetness of her body and mind in closer proximity, but first he must save her from the forces of the government who wish to see all Varti destroyed.
To My Readers from Kathleen Scott: After finishing my novella, Fatal Error, I knew I wanted to revisit the future and see what happened to Soran and Jesse. Imagine my surprise when the sequel happened thirty years later and involved their grown son, Damien and his lover, Jade. I hope you enjoy discovering their love story as much as I did.

In Kiss Me at Midnight, latenight TV personality Callie Hutchins knows what she wantsthe best ratings in the businessand she’s willing to do just about anything to get them.
