This book started out with the "Perfect Gentlemen" being disciplined for their questionable antics. Was anyone hurt? No. So why the drama? These are rich boys (except one who is there on a scholarship) being taught by average people. Jealous much? I often wondered why wealthy people reproduced just to ship them off at the earliest convenience. I know, heirs and dynasties. Whatever. These six boys become men and the ties that bind never waiver. Through thick and thin, sick and sin, they are unbreakable. Or so they thought.
The author took her time setting up the back ground arc of the death of one of their own and the resulting tsunami both emotionally and financially that was left in his wake. The meeting of Gabe and Eve(rly) was nothing new but done nicely, and the crash after their idyllic weekend epic. Both showed their roots in how they handled things and while I got Gabe's hurt feelings, that man needs a filter. Everly was no wilting flower and I loved how she stood up for herself and was so not helpless when it came to her own protection.
There were surprises aplenty and I was caught off guard on who the bad guys were; kudos for that. The gravitational pull of Gabe and Everly towards one another was hot, steamy and plentiful. Everly tended to cave but sure knew how to make Gabe grovel. I liked that Gabe matured as the book progressed, making revelations and such as he changed his view of what is important in life. While not a complete ass, he did have some entitlement attitude going on, but Everly nipped that in the bud.
The romantic arc for Gabe and Everly is tied up nicely with a bow, and we are left with a multitude of dangling threads which is what will hold the series together as a whole. Unfortunately I have the patience of a chipmunk and the memory of a squirrel, so this is a little frustrating. I will definitely be reading the next book, but I just might have to skim this book to remember the pertinent details.
