Hot Down Under

I've really enjoyed this author's look at romance after the apocalypse. How do you meet guys since there is no longer civilization? You certainly don't have time to date and play out a long courtship; you might not survive until tomorrow. Natalie and Angus actually did have a courtship if you count all their time spent talking via walkies. When that ends she fears he's gone and then he's like a superhero cutting through the dead to reach her. Her! She's a pudgy woman who survived merely due to circumstance and not skill. When Angus, a younger man with all that entails (rock hard abs ladies!) arrives it's lust at first sight and he helps build her confidence for the next unavoidable step; leaving her safe haven.

With zombies all the rage it was bound to start appearing in romance. I like this author's matter-of-fact presentation of how life will devolve to the absolute basics; food, water and sex. The rest of what humanity deemed so vital is gone and that is all that is left. It would almost be a relief since so many are addicted to the technology and fast pace of life today. My only question, as a practical woman, is what will they do when the condoms and food runs out? Nobody is manufacturing these items any more! An awesomely delicious quick read with a splash of gory violence.

Natalie has watched as the zombie plague devastated civilization.

Angus had been a miracle. Twenty-three years old and gorgeous he had appeared like Romeo from the pool area and thrown supplies up to her balcony. But now Angus is gone - he has abandoned her, which is probably for the best. She couldn't stand to watch him die too.

Stranded four floors up and fenced in on all sides by the infected, food and water supplies are running as low as Natalie's spirits. A lingering death from starvation seems inevitable.

But then she sees Angus striding for the pool gate with a sawn-off shotgun in his hands. Can he make it past the infected to reach her? And what will it mean if he does?
