Ever wonder how a movie is made? This coffee table book will show you the hand drawn boards, the evolution of scenery, the thought processes behind the genesis of the alien creatures and it’s all bound beautifully in a hardcover book. The original alien, based on artwork by HR Giger is taken back a few steps to a more generic, not as complex, look. And with reason. While this isn’t technically a prequel to Alien, it is part of the world and allows new avenues to be explored. I enjoyed reading the book and especially enjoyed the beautiful photographs and stills from the movie.
While providing a systematic autopsy of the movie it also allows the reader to focus on artifacts and characters (namely the Engineers) more than was possible while watching the movie. As I personally love to dissect the movies (via pause and slow motion) this made it possible without wearing out my remote. My husband enjoyed the section on the rovers, but as a woman that didn’t interest me much. If you are a fan this is a book you must acquire.
Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The movie takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.
With an introduction by Scott himself, this lavish book will be the only publication to accompany Prometheus. Stunning production art and behind the scenes photos will grant the reader a window on the process of creating this astounding new epic.
