Melina is a captain for the Galactic Alliance. No simpering Miss, she kicks ass and doesn’t bother to take names. Her crew loves her, with a few exceptions. Who knew one of those exceptions would put her in a position that would change her life and who she thought she was forever.
The Prime have just joined the Galactic Alliance. A private people, they have joined for one reason only. Survival of their race. With opposers who want to keep the bloodlines “pure” causing problems all the way, the Prime leaders are seeking compatible mates for their men. What they didn’t expect to find was one of the “lost.” Melina is a child of Prime, with a fated gemate already bonded to her. That is what her birthmark is about. Since the birthrate has been declining, the Prime tend to coddle and protect their women from harm. When Melina meets her destined mate, Wulf Caradoc, first son of the ruler of Prime, the sparks fly as their basic personalities clash on an epic scale. He wants to protect, she needs to fight. Together they battle the Antareans, the reptilian race bent on both their species destruction, as well as their feelings for one another. The winner in either battle is anyone’s guess.
Loved it. While some reviewers view the “bonded mate” as a cop out, I disagree. This was way more than that. The couple didn’t actually meet until well into the book. The sex didn’t start until well afterward. And Melina wasn’t going to just accept her fate. She made Wulf work for it and kept him always on his toes. The tension between them was phenomenal. The mystery and intrigue about who is behind the resistance and the attempts on Melina’s life added another dimension to an already fabulous story. I can’t wait for the continuation with the storyline and more clues into who is behind the whole resistance. A must read.
Melina Dmitros is a seasoned battleship captain for the Galactic Alliance. Calls from ships in distress are not all that uncommon in the outermost spirals of the Milky Way. Calls from the warlike Prime were. Now that they were allies, Mel figures she’d better get used to working in conjunction with the chauvinistic race. She never expected to be attracted to one of them.
The Prime, one of the oldest species in the galaxy, were known for going their own way. But with problems on Cejuru Prime and increasing attacks by the Antareans, the Prime joined the Alliance to lend their expertise in battling the warlike reptilian species--and ultimately, to survive as a race.
Captain Wulf Caradoc, the eldest son and heir apparent of the Prime leader, looked forward to the trip to the Alliance ambassadorial planet. His mission is ostensibly to deliver the diplomatic team to the new Prime embassy. His real mission is to meet his fated mate, his gemate, one of the Lost Ones. Wulf hadn’t anticipated the diplomatic mission being attacked by pirates--and he especially hadn’t anticipated his gemate, Melina Dmitros, being the one sent to rescue his ship.
Two strong people pulled together by biology and fate. Their union will be forged in a crucible of survival, treachery and duty.
