Who doesn’t love a pirate? Especially when he’s sexy, answers the door naked and has a wicked case of snark going on? The two main characters have a flirtatious relationship as Emma delivers an unending supply of goods to Rafe. Rafe wants to get into Emma’s pants and Emma enjoys the banter, even though she plays hard to get. The amusement starts and then things get interesting. If you consider being abducted into outer space interesting.
The story flowed well and the romance was a slow burn. These two start out as adversaries initially, and Emma refuses to cave on the sex issue, forcing Rafe to actually have a conversation for once instead of relying on his charm and prowess. Guess what? He kind of starts to like her, and she starts to like him back. Imagine! The author did an exemplary job describing the environs and adventures and I was totally plugged in throughout the whole book.
I knew going in this was a series, but didn’t expect this to end the way it did. Got me there.
Earth: a space pirate’s dream when it comes to booty, but not a good place to hide when bounty hunters come looking. Pulling up stakes means Rafe must leave his vintage trailer behind, but in the process, he acquires a passenger, a mouthy female who seems to think she’s calling the shots.
She’ll soon learn who’s the captain. And it isn’t Annabelle, his sassy ship.
A true red-blooded male, Rafe does his best to teach Emma her place in the universe, but her human attitude gets in the way. So why doesn’t he sell her when he gets the chance?
Damned if he knows, but despite his motto of “The Universe Revolves Around Me,” he finds himself putting his life in peril to save hers. But that doesn’t mean he’s letting her in on all his secrets. Some things a man has to carry alone, and some revelations a pirate will kill to keep.
The universe might be out to get him, but he’s not giving in without a fight.
