Kenna and Beck

Beck is best described as a “limited edition.” He’s respectful, charming, polite, smoking-hot sexy and a dirty-talking virgin. Where was he 20 years ago?! If the author knows a flesh and blood man that she based this character on she better hide him or auction him. Goodness! He was absolutely delightful. His modesty and self-flagellation aside, he’s this close to being perfect and as it turns out, he’s totally perfect for Kenna.

Kenna has the reputation but didn’t do the crime. Well, she did the crime(s) but only after she got sick of being punished for simply being. She has a chip on her shoulder and it’s getting mighty heavy. When she meets Beck he throws her off kilter in all kinds of ways. His problems put hers in perspective, and his anger on her behalf is uplifting. Beck seems to be missing certain filters that people have and his blinding goodness and honesty draw Kenna like a flame.

For Beck, it’s Kenna’s aura of sin and innocence that attracts him. She’s not so much a novelty as a revelation and he goes after her with no qualms and that’s sooooo attractive. He’s persistent but patient and that is so sexy.

Huntley and Cullen

Huntley is a late bloomer in my book. She’s been slow to find her inner siren and it doesn’t help she’s in love with her brother’s best friend Cullen. But Cullen is her friend too and she doesn’t want to screw that up. Cullen has slowly developed feelings for Huntley as the years have passed but the unwritten law has held him back concerning best friends sisters. Oh, and his baggage about not being good enough for anything long-term and basically being a manwhore.

Things change for Cullen and Huntley fairly quickly. Oh the feelings have been building but Hunt has had it and decides to move on, but her inner siren decides to do it directly in front of Cullen. This spurs Cullen into action and the game is afoot.

There was a lot of yo-yoing in this developing relationship and Cullen was the culprit every time. I would have cut him loose after the first time, but Hunt is more forgiving than I am. He may have been a jerk but his groveling was epic.

The tie of Beck and Huntley being twins was a cute way to connect the stories. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it is never willingly leaving my Kindle.

OFF BASE: Huntley and Cullen

By Sophie Jordan

Being a good girl has its drawbacks...

Huntley Collier, an emergency room nurse and all-around do-gooder, is tired of living in the friend zone. Cullen Brooks was given the job of babysitting Huntley when her brother – his best friend – deployed. But their friendly coffeehouse hangouts and TV marathons leave her wanting more. When one crazy night leads to too many drinks and an explosion of long-denied lust, Huntley's dreams become a reality. And reality is one hot, wild place she never wants to leave.

But only a good girl can bring down a bad boy...

Known as Sullen Cullen around Black Rock, Cullen Brooks doesn’t have many friends, but Huntley is one of them … and despite his decidedly unfriendly fantasies of the curvy blonde, she is far too sweet for his darker tastes. Keeping his hands off is easier said than done, however, when demure, little Huntley responds to his touch like the wildcat he never expected...and can't stop pursuing, despite his better judgment. But when Cullen suddenly faces losing her, will this bad boy risk it all to keep his good girl?
