Night Book 1
Once again we visit the paranormal division of T-FLAC. This time it’s Simon Blackthorne, a born wizard who has a little problem; his powers keep short-circuiting. Usually when he needs them most. In Africa by invitation of Abi, a college friend, now President and hoping to be re-elected, Simon is on a psuedo vacation that quickly becomes a paranormal op.
Kess Goodall’s life is so screwed. On charges of aggravated assault after helping a colleague, she takes a job as public relations agent for President Abi in his re-election campaign. Between civil unrest and a plague that is killing people by the thousands, her hands are full. And then she bumps into Simon and things start to get dangerous and interesting.
Any addition to the T-FLAC series is a welcome one. I really enjoyed this story but felt it didn’t have the depth her previous books had. Kind of a T-FLAC light. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed how Simon discounted Kess at the beginning because she didn’t meet his ideal criteria for his future mate. Hair the color of flame is a far cry from brunette, and that’s just the beginning of discrepancies between her and Simon’s so-called ideal. Reading about his tumble into the inevitable was entertaining to say the least. Creative use of magic and situations to set the stage for romance was greatly appreciated. I especially enjoyed the 100 mph jaunt across the savannah. A promising start for a new trilogy of T-FLAC, and I’ll definitely be reading the next installment.
Book Blurb for Night Fall
T-FLAC/PSI operative Simon Blackthorne goes to Africa to continue the global war against paranormal terror, never expecting to clash swords with strong-willed Kess Goodall.
Kess struggles in her own desperate battle to unravel a deadly plague that has killed millions in the tiny country of Mallaruza. But Simon proves to be the ultimate distraction: his very presence takes Kess’s body to the edge of a pleasure-filled abyss, his touch superbly rapturous. Now, against a backdrop of staggering beauty and horrific violence, with danger at every turn and libidos in overdrive, a spirited woman and an indomitable wizard face a malevolent force more frightening than either can imagine.
Battling foes strong and numerous, Kess and Simon must forge a bond strong enough so that they can eliminate a sadistic enemy before Mallaruza is lost to terrorist control and the world is forever changed.
