More than Words

Trapped by her own fears, Calli doesn’t go out at dark. At all. She’s not a true agoraphobic but traumatized by a mugging that went beyond bad. She’s fully functional and enjoys her life but for that stain, and no sex that doesn’t involve a toy from her shop. To fill her evenings she plays scrabble online and comes across the man of her dreams. So what if they’ll never meet?

Travis has it all except what he wants. He’s grown up while his band members have not. He’s done with the nameless sex and groupies and craves a real relationship. Trolling the online gaming site might seem weird but it worked. Calli has it all on the computer. Now he just has to find her in real life. Will she live up to what he’s envisioned?

Sex, scrabble and stalking pave the way in this delightful read that kept me going to the end. There were some truly dark moments in this read, and Travis disappointed me in a major way. And he impressed me in a major way. Do the two cancel each other out? They might not for everyone but it kept me reading. Calli was a wounded warrior who kept waiting for the next grenade. And she got it. Travis is a man trying to transition from player to grown-up and stumbling. That made him real and likeable despite his colossal screw-ups. A good read.

Book Blurb for More than Words

A brutal mugging two years ago left Calli terrified to go out after dark, and incapable of real dating. Hanging out with a resentful Chihuahua every night hasn’t filled the void, and all the sex toys from the store she owns could never replace a flesh-and-blood man. An online Scrabble site promising anonymous, flirty fun sounds like just the ticket. A like-minded geek, that’s what she needs. Unbeknownst to her, the man on the other end of the game is anything but geeky.

Tired of the party scene, Travis seeks a venue where he can meet a woman who is drawn to his mind, not his profession. Having women chase after his bad-boy musician persona has grown stale. After heating up the tiles online with Calli, he knows he must meet her in person. Touch her in person. And when he does, their chemistry is undeniable. She stimulates him, mind and body. But when he discovers her tragic past he realizes it will take more than words to win her heart…and her trust.
