Midnight Fever

Men of Midnight, #6

Loved this addition to the series. There were hints of attraction between Kay and Nick in previous books so I was excited they got their own. As expected, the heroine was a woman with guts and not afraid to do what is right. Even if it means losing her life. Nick was so amusing at times as he tried to keep his attraction out of the gossip mill at work. But let's face it, the men are dropping like flies at work to the wiles of incredible women. Nick's just trying to hang on to his bachelorhood. But not for long.

Nick wasn't a damaged hero as I've come to expect. His family is alive and thriving, he had good relationships with his siblings and parents and still does. That was kind of a nice change. He wasn't less alpha but had a different outlook on life; more positive I guess. Kay had tragedy in her life but was guided through it to a healthy adulthood. The author manages to hit on subjects that are equally fascinating and horrifying. I hope she doesn't know things that I don't, but her story lines do mirror the insanity being displayed in the world today.

I read this in one sitting, but admit I went back and read all the previous books in the series just to refresh myself and for the fun of it. Steamy interludes coupled with tension and spy craft makes for a very good read. Highly recommend.
