Judge has held a lot of weight on his shoulders over the years through circumstance and destiny. He is sure when his mate makes herself known she’ll be docile and submissive. Good luck with that.
Charli is a resourceful woman who has been running/hiding for a while now. She’s got serious skills in addition to being a psychic and uses them accordingly to protect herself and her sister. Why a man thinks just because he calls her his that is going to change she has no idea.
The background story continued with an added element that I found distracting – another shifter acting proprietary about Charli. Didn’t see the need for that at all. Devil and Judge are at odds throughout the book because Devil is, well, Devil. That man sees in black and white only. Judge deals in multiple shades of gray due to his duties as head of security and pack alpha.
Clues keep popping up about whom Chaos has been waiting for and the sisterhood of mates to the horseman continues to grow in number and strength. I look forward to the last book in the series.
To stay alive Charli Smythe must live by a set of well-defined rules. Keeping her psychic ability a secret and avoiding relationships has kept her ahead of the danger from her past. It leads to a lonely existence. One that’s threatened the moment she meets Judge.
Judge Martin is the alpha of the local mountain lion pride, and the head of security at the hotel and casino he owns with his brothers. He makes the rules and expects them to be followed. His well-ordered world is thrown into disarray the moment he meets his mate. Within hours, she steals his car and runs from him.
On finding her, secrets are revealed. Secrets that threaten his relationship with one of his brothers. Can Judge prove her worthiness as his mate to Devil and protect her from the danger that lurks in the shadows before it’s too late? Or will she be stolen from his life permanently?
