Clay has been in the background this whole time, holding things together as his siblings find their forever loves. He found his years ago, but had to let her go when the family's needs required it. They never even dated, but he wanted her. Now's his chance, but it's tragedy that's given him the opportunity.
This is a sticky situation any way you look at it. Maggie and Clay were friends and never went further, though the chemistry was there. Maggie and Cameron were a happy couple, and Clay friends with both. Then Cameron was taken from them and the healing process reignited the spark. How long is considered long enough? How soon is too soon?
Poor Clay never saw it coming, and frankly neither did I. The days of a Victorian mourning period are long gone, and the dissenting party had no business laying down an ultimatum. Clay and Maggie were struggling enough with their own feelings without someone adding a burden. But love finds a way.
There's one Thompson son left and the author gave a little teaser concerning his love interest that is just that; a tease. And I have to wonder if the father might find love again as well.
The story flowed well with all matched couples present and accounted for and updates on the progress of their lives. The chemistry was certainly there between Maggie and Clay and I truly enjoyed the story of them finding one another again. A good addition to the series.
