Iron Rods

Strip Club, #1

I've got to say I found Bennett a little off-putting to start but that changed as it was revealed what he had to deal with growing up. And trust me, it was a lot. It made sense that he had this (formerly) impenetrable shell built around his emotions that he guarded fiercely. Tatum had a lot of disappointment in her life as well, but she was a girl who just kept going and she did so once again when life threw her another curve. But Bennett was almost too much for even her to deal with.

This is the beginning of a new series and my interest is piqued enough that I will be looking forward to future books. The premise of a male strip club is enticing and I really enjoyed the authors ability to help me visualize all that gorgeous man flesh on stage for my perusal. It was appreciated that Bennett found some solace and what he was looking for his whole life in Tatum and that the source of his angst was no longer an enemy but revealed as the ally he always was; he wasn’t mean but rather overwhelmed and clueless.

The chemistry wasn't there for me as much as I would have liked, but the conflict was unique and the added drama that drove the story was entertaining, as well as the little side story of Tatum’s roommate. A good read.

Book Blurb for Iron Rods

The women of Austin, Texas, could mix fantasy with flesh at Iron Rods but the strip club is now in disrepair. Bennett Truitt, estranged son of the club’s aging and half-crazy owner, wants to replace the landmark with condos. He hires feisty Tatum to manage the club, sure she will fail, but not before he has a chance to sample her skills in bed.

After another rejection letter, Tatum realizes she’ll never be a professional dancer on or off Broadway. Down on her luck, she’s determined to make the run-down club successful no matter what, or who, it takes. She never expected her new boss to be so enticing they’re breaking doors down to get to each other, get their clothes off, taste each delectable inch.
