This bad boy likes a bad girl. Ruby is trying to turn over a new leaf but easy money is hard to resist, and a girl has to eat. She’s cut most ties with her life as a drifter but that life included friends and family. She’s constantly drawn back and is the first to admit her moral compass is a little off. Troy is a temptation like no other and his being a cop makes it even naughtier.
Troy is a man fighting himself. He takes the blame for things that weren’t his fault, questions his instincts when he shouldn’t, and can’t tell himself no when he runs into Ruby. She’s just something he can’t resist. No one is more surprised than him when her past is revealed to be entangled with his present. As the tentative trust he has built with Ruby is threatened, he has to make some major decisions that will affect his life in more ways than one.
He’s hot and carries a gun, but that’s not what draws Ruby. She’s not really sure what it is about Troy but she can't not be with him and the same goes for Troy. While some of Ruby’s choices are a little on the “duh” side she is doing her version of right and trying to help. The chemistry between Ruby and Troy is incendiary and this author is very adept at drawing the reader into the scene. I actually had to pause a few times and compose myself to continue. If you are looking for an exemplary read with story as well as sex, look no further than this series.
The greater the risk, the hotter the reward…Homicide cop Troy Bennett had a reputation with the Chicago PD for being fearless and in control—until the night his daredevil partner is killed during a raid. From that moment on, he swears he’ll never again be responsible for the loss of a loved one. To escape his demons, Troy transfers to the NYPD, bringing him up close and personal with Ruby Elliott, a beautiful, street-savvy pool hustler. Reckless and stubbornly independent, Ruby embodies everything Troy’s avoiding, but when she walks into the pub he’s at with his new coworkers and blows his carefully laid plans to hell, Troy knows he has to have her—risks be damned. But there’s a connection between Ruby’s shadowed past and a case Troy’s working involving a notorious Brooklyn felon, throwing her safety into jeopardy. Confronted with his biggest fear, will Troy push Ruby away to keep her safe or fight to keep her in his arms where she belongs?
