Blackie is about as popular as gum on the bottom of your shoe on the Cyborg Planet. He's a trusted minion of the council and those who have chosen female mates have had a run in or two with him. So when he finally runs into the woman who helped him escape so many years ago, he's finally given a glimpse of what those other cyborgs were doing when they fought so hard for their women. Love is a great equalizer. Blackie met Eve one time only on the day she helped him escape the termination center. When she misses the rendezvous he mourns her assumed death. When he finds her again he's shocked to find she's alive, and not an actual woman.
Eve, or Hellfire, was devastated when the cyborgs abandoned her kind after they helped them escape. For years she and her sister have scraped by in deep space, but when they are boarded it's not the deformed pirates she expects but the cyborg she never forgot. Is this her chance at the life she lost?
I've really enjoyed this series and found it fitting that a character that has appeared in former books as a protagonist finally gets a taste of what he's been dishing out. With all the touting of Cyborgs not having the fault of humans it was interesting what was revealed about the creation of the council and the decisions they made that are now biting them on the ass. Blackie's devotion to Eve and ability to apologize to those he wronged in the past go a long way to redeeming him in everyone's eyes, mine included. The series took an interesting turn with Eve and her sister and I look forward to what the author will come up with next.
Eve’s mission is to rescue cyborgs from termination centers on Earth. She is blindsided by the overwhelming attraction that draws her to one of them. He’s handsome, sexy, and she wants him, craves his touch as she has no other. She must send him to freedom but she makes him promise to wait for her.
Blackie cannot forget the courageous woman who saved him. He never learned whether she died during the rebellion or just changed her mind about leaving with him but he holds her within his lonely heart. He exists to serve the Cyborg Council and protect the new world cyborgs have created. This changes when he discovers the woman who haunts his dreams is alive and the cyborg leaders left her behind to die. He’ll never lose her again and he’ll fight his own kind to avenge and keep her.
