Three sisters who are the descendants of the greatest psychics that ever lived. Their descendant, Tyre, took over the world, and destroyed it as best he could when he could no longer hold it. Years later, the PSI Agency is looking for all descendants of Tyre and they decide who is to live, die, be chemically neutralized or permanently incarcerated. Someone has identified the three women, and agents are sent to determine the danger they may or may not present. The three sisters each command an element: Rayne controls water, Jezermiah controls wind, and Carmella controls fire.
The first tale is of Jezermiah. Wynd Temptress by Kathryn Anne Dubois was my second favorite. Jez and Adam, the agent sent for her, spark immediately. The “torture” they inflict on one another was hot but also at times funny. Adam was committed to his mission, but not blindly so. His pursuit of his destined mate made for a great read.
Rayne Dance by Mlyn Hurn was my least favorite. Rayne controls the water element, but doesn’t use her gift on her farm. She just wants to be left alone. Her new neighbor, Sean, is really a PSI Agent sent to investigate her. It didn’t seem to flow as well as the first and last stories. While I enjoyed it, and it had it’s steamy moments, I just didn’t get the same satisfaction out of the story as I did the others. With the addition of another psychic pursuing Rayne, Sean got all alpha, which I like. The resolution of her mysterious pursuer was messy, literally.
The final installment was Fyrebrand by Lora Leigh. As usual, the author presents a scorching (no pun intended) tale. Carmella has not one but two agents, who both know that she is destined for them. Carmella is resistant, in more ways than one, and fights herself more than her pursuers. Her journey to trusting her men to control her fire element was sexy, and the story was full of emotion from all parties. This was my favorite story in the anthology.
Fyre Brand By Lora Leigh She holds the elemental power of fire within her grasp. Able to sear, to destroy, but her heart holds the fear of repeating her ancestors' mistakes. Now, amid a world fighting to rebuild, Carmella must learn that she alone cannot control the power surging through her fragile body. She'll need help. But can she accept the future her leader Torren has seen, and the touch of a stranger who is more than he seems? Rayne Dance By Mlyn Hurn Keeping her psychic powers hidden had come to mean living the life of a near-hermit for Rayne. That was not difficult since she lived in a small community and worked as a farmer. Life wasn't easy, especially with the drought, but Rayne suddenly had two new men in her life. Sean owned the farm next door, but was he just another rancher? Then the French foreigner enters her life. Suddenly, being psychic is fraught with sexual tension and danger. Her life could be forfeited if she trusted the wrong man. Wynd Temptress By Kathryn Anne Dubois As a descendant of the most malevolent and despotic psychic ruler in history, Jezermiah, a powerful psychic herself, wants nothing to do with her legacy and will do anything to keep her secret. But the ruling government has found her and sends sexy psychic cop, Adam, to make sure of her intentions. Jezermiah wants nothing to do with him, despite her powerful attraction to him. She is fearful that mating with a psychic as powerful as herself will create another monster like her great-grandfather. Adam, convinced they are destined for each other, will stop at nothing until he makes her his.
