Sage Miller is skittish, to put it mildly. It’s been two years since her sister was founded raped and murdered. The man was caught and imprisoned, but Sage just had to get away. She hooked up with Trent Takoda and spent an amazing week with him. But she was messed up, and left him in the middle of the night. She’s been on the road ever since, and has just settled down in North Carolina where she works for a small construction company. Then the phone calls start.
Trent Takoda can’t get Sage Miller out of his head. She disappeared after an awesome week together. He was thinking she was the one, and then she was just gone. He’s found her again by sheer dumb luck, and this time he’s not letting her slip through his fingers. She has a past, one she doesn’t want to share, but he’ll find out and convince her they are meant to be, no matter what.
Well written and fast paced, Dangerous Deception caught me right away. Trent and Sage seemed destined, and I was disappointed when she ran. When the two encounter one another again, kaboom! She tries to act like she doesn’t know him, and he isn’t going for it. Since Sage already had one stalker, Trent could have easily had a creepy vibe, but he didn’t. I instantly got the impression he had feelings for her, and he illustrated that throughout the story. Hot, explicit, and mysterious Dangerous Deception is a book not to be missed.
