Danger by Dalliance

The way society accepts alternative lifestyles today is really brought home in this read. Set in an alternative universe that is close to our Victorian Era, steampunk is a way of life. But alternative relationships are not. And so begins our tale of two men in love and the woman who makes everything perfect.

I really enjoyed the steampunk aspect, and have never indulged before. The author just casually mentioned these devices and constructs that are everyday in this world and so they seemed, well, normal. As to the romance that is slowly nurtured between Sarah, Archer and Warren that was hot and steamy and, if I may say, totally believable. The restrictions placed on poor Sarah by society and her responsibility to her father were momentarily shed when she was with her men and the light that shone from her joy is part of what entranced both men. Although she caught Archer’s attention first, Warren was smitten as well after his first meeting.

So Archer was a little sneaky in how he got Sarah to spend time with him and Warren; he had nothing on the villain in the story who was a good example of how I envision a Victorian bad guy. With excitement wrapping up all the intrigue, I was very satisfied with this read and will not hesitate to dip my toes into unfamiliar genres again. Especially if written by this author.
