Ah, the stupidity of youth. Assumptions are what drives this book, from what Callie’s grandparents will think of her deep dark secret concerning school to what they will think of their granddaughter dating the help.

Callie is in that golden stage of her life where everything is about her. Sure, her family has expectations and hopes for her life, and they want her to follow in their footsteps, but they are not psychos about it. Supportive and nurturing are the words I would use.

Cole is forced to grow up fast due to circumstances beyond his control. He’s smart and on the fast track but sets it aside for duty. But he also has a chip on his shoulder and Callie is sometimes an easy target for his repressed frustration about it all. And that is what makes the sparks fly.

The author addressed the relative immaturity of Callie and accounted for it nicely and to my parental satisfaction. By no means is she a child, but she has things to do before she settles down. The steamy scenes were well done but Cole gave me whiplash on occasion with his mixed messages. They both go into the relationship agreeing, legally, that it is just a physical relationship but that quickly changes, upping the stakes for them both.

Tiptoeing around the ranch aside, I enjoyed this read and thought the author did a fine job conveying all the angst and agony that can be associated with finding oneself while simultaneously finding that one person they are meant to be with.

Book Blurb for Branded

I have my hands full taking care of my little sister and covering for my uncle as ranch foreman. The last thing I need is a Texas princess like Callie Llewellyn getting up in my business and messing with my head.

All I can think of is getting up close and personal with those curves of hers. And being on the edge of discovery makes our quick-and-dirty encounters twice as hot. And that’s all they are—quick and dirty—there’s nothing deeper going on here.

There’s only one rule to keeping my job and a roof over my sister’s head: stay away from the boss’s granddaughter. But I’m not always great at following the rules.
