Barbarian Alien

Ice Planet Barbarians, #2

Liz and Raahosh, a match made in hell. Or so it seemed at first. In this second story in the series things are a little heavier emotionally than with the first book centering on Vektal and Georgie. Liz is the tough chick and Raahosh has some major baggage due to his parent’s choices and upbringing. Seems some things never change regardless of the planet you are on.

I liked Liz and her strength served her well. I had a few laughs over her need to constantly talk things out, thinking Raahosh couldn’t understand. That also led to some interesting moments as he used his interpretation of her dialogue to guide his own actions as he courted her. As these two got closer (and who wouldn’t stuck in an ice cave?) Liz’s protests of not wanting him got to be a little repetitive. But a girl does want a choice and Liz felt hers was taken when she was given the symbiont, affectionately known as “cootie”.

Raahosh was so sweet and sad. He feared one thing the most and without his fearless mate and her determination, his actions would have made it happen. Proves males are less than brilliant when it comes to the heart regardless of their species. I find this series adorable and entertaining, and the world building is intriguing and has many more directions it could take as the women are inserted into the mostly male colony.

The whole point here is survival, but love is rearing its head. The “cootie” insures a good genetic match, and as a result hot and steamy sex between earth women and the big blue guys with horns and a tail. And I can’t wait until the babies start to be born.

Book Blurb for Barbarian Alien

Twelve humans are left stranded on a wintry alien planet. I’m one of them. Yay, me.

In order to survive, we have to take on a symbiont that wants to rewire our bodies to live in this brutal place. I like to call it a cootie. And my cootie’s a jerk, because it also thinks I’m the mate to the biggest, surliest alien of the group.

BARBARIAN ALIEN is a sequel to ICE PLANET BARBARIANS. You do not have to read both in order to understand the plot, but the story will be richer if you do!
