I have a serious love/hate relationship with series. I love all the different stories with a familiar background, but hate waiting.
The story from Laurann Dohner was a long time coming. Zorn warriors are hot, hot, hot! Coto’s story wasn’t as good as I had hoped, but it’s brevity might have something to do with that. Also, it took place on Earth, which was an interesting change of perspective but not my favorite.
Bridal Bonds by Leora Gonzales introduced me to a new author. I liked the story but the detail was almost too much at times. Daily minutiae can be skipped over while still conveying intent. The romance between the three was standard menage with some humor thrown in. The literal interpretation by the men was at times hilarious. There is also a darker story that may hit a few people hard.
No Way Out: Kari by Jaid Black was front loaded with a lot of information about the world and how Kari came to be who she is today. This series was started a long time ago, and I had to skim previous books to get my bearings. When the author finally got to the romance between Death and Kari it broke my heart, and I am once again hooked on the series. I hope I don’t have to wait so long for the conclusion to Death and Kari’s story.
Escape by Tara Nina was probably the most intriguing of the books. Very interesting story with vivid world building and a mystery arc that can potentially spawn several books. Kal was a good guy done wrong and I liked his demeanor. Shia promises to be a force in future books, and her dedication to doing what is right a thing of beauty. And the hot sex didn’t hurt. Anticipating future books.
