Death by Delilah

Delilah has known Gabby and Josh since she was a preteen. She and Gabby are the closest of friends, and Delilah has had a crush on Josh, Gabby’s brother, ever since she met him. Josh also had a crush on Delilah, but had no clue back then. He never made a move on Delilah when they were younger because she is Mulatto and he thought their parents would stop them from dating.

Now Delilah is moving in with him and Gabby. He is more attracted to Delilah than he ever has been and he is about to find out that she has had the same crush on him. Their parents can’t stop them now, but the Navy can. He is an officer and she is enlisted, so their relationship is forbidden. That doesn’t stop them from heating up the night after celebrating Gabby’s new job. They know that they are in love, but they don’t know what they are going to do about the Navy no fraternization rule. Then they get help from up above. Delilah’s dead grandmother has a plan that will guarantee that Delilah and Josh get to stay together.

Death by Delilah is a quick, steamy, and quite funny read. I was rooting for Josh and Delilah to get together, because they have wanted one another for so long. I was happy for them when they finally got together, which made for a very hot scene in the backseat of a car! After they finally got together, I felt that the book was rushed up a bit and the dialogue became a little bit unrealistic. The humor from the astral plane and the passion from Josh and Delilah kept me reading, though.

The humorous part of the book comes from the astral plane. Delilah’s grandparents are watching from above. Her grandmother, Delilah, loves to solve matters of the heart and she is bound and determined to see her namesake happy. Martin, her husband, tries to get her to keep her nose out of Delilah’s business to no avail. Their sparring had me laughing over and over again.

Death by Delilah is a fast-paced book, sure to heat you up and give you some giggles along the way. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon read.

Book Blurb for Death by Delilah

Delilah Mills, Navy enlisted, is on the verge of finding true love. All she needs is a little push, or so her grandmother believes. The elder Delilah can't resist the urge to meddle — even if she's a ghost and her influence is limited.

Joshua Sparks, a naval officer attracted to Delilah since their teens, discovers the crush has been mutual all these years. Back then, he let her mixed race and his parents stop him. Now, the Navy says they can't date. One night they throw caution to the winds and not only can't undo what they did, but don't want to.

Can two Navy lovers, equal in resolve but not in rank, secretly live together off base, without discovery causing one of them to be transferred to the Middle East?
