Kindred of the Fallen

Kindred Chronicles, #1

Wow, is the first word out of my mouth as I read Kindred Fallen, a fantastic story birthed by Isis Rushdan. What is there in Kindred Fallen not to love or appreciate? It invigorates the gray matter, emotions of love, security, commitment, honesty and sacrifices to correct wrongs on spiritual and physical realms. The dynamic power of various energies are intertwined in my opinion possesses the state of oneness or completion since as humans we are beings of both physical and spirit.

On this roller-coaster ride of societal politics, survival, protection, and eroticism I became personally invested into this new society and the impact these issues have on the characters' relationships. The realism of Kindred Fallen although fiction on a paranormal plane marches in step with what a reader can plainly visualize and identify with as cultural differences on Earth plays influences a major role in living a fruitful life.

I clicked immediately with Serenity on a number of different characteristics: how she connects with the inner person behind the shield, her no nonsense approach in what she believes in, her strength, and her devotion to those she loves. Who can resist a powerful leading lady? Serenity's possession of these attributes accompanies a bit of pain and frustration when there's a lack of the full comprehension surrounding the importance of interacting energies. Serenity's gift of seeing into souls makes her company Soul Ink Designs, a body art business, unique because of her capacity of harnessing the true aspects of a person. Her talented business is sought after among many elite individuals with deep pockets.

The meeting of two strangers: Serenity and Cyrus’ meeting occurs as a business transaction that causes quite an unsettling transmission of vibrations, knowledge, and reluctance.

Cyrus is a man after my heart, soul and hmmm. I connected with his electrifying fire power and assertive personality. That makes him a to die for partner. The manner in which his persona radiates made my knees buckle. Cyrus is knowledgeable and protective warrior. He is also commanding and deliciously self-assured, a fantasy come true. I enjoyed the animated dialogue and vigorous displays of energies shared between Serenity and Cyrus. His presence in Serenity's life may be an extremely risky one.

Evan is a successful, handsome, and gentle soul. I loved him for those reasons. However, I partially shared Dougie's opinion of Evan being a safe bet. Serenity is engaged to Evan and Evan felt to me as comfortable as a pair of your favorite slippers. I felt that Serenity may be settling for less than perfection across multiple platforms in her relationship with Evan.

Evan’s role has been a major part of Serenity's life and serves as a safety net lacking the sparks of adventure and challenge. Could there be more out in this beautiful world of sensuality and companionship? Is it just safest to stay with the calmness and a life with Evan? Hmm!!

Dougie is refreshing and comical, but that can be annoying. His antics caused me a few good chuckles early in the narrative. He has Serenity's back and wants her to explore life's flavors beyond she French Vanilla. Although tasty and satisfying it is not as exotic or intoxicating as Hot Spicy Mocha Rum topped with luscious fresh whipped cream.

Ms. Rushdan's character development is awesome and speaks deeply to the heart and mind of her audience. She illustrates the power of a vivid imagination and the understanding of spiritual energies to create a fantastic story that I could not put down. I enjoyed the way she incorporated other personalities into the story. It is mind bending because it is done seamlessly. The background knowledge of Egyptian history or general mythology is enlightening. This is one aspect that penetrated my mind and stimulated a curious sense of wonderment. The fluidity of her writing style, characters, settings and other key story elements reflect a passion for carrying the reader outside of “box” to a place where there are numerous potent, eye popping “wow” moments. Ms. Rushdan's message to her audience is crystal clear and captivating. I have motivated my friends by sharing fragments of the story's beginning so that they too would read and enjoy the book, which enables us to engage in spirited discussions over wine and cheese. I can hardly contain myself as I wait for them to finish reading Kindred Fallen.

Kindred Fallen is a terrific summer read. It shimmers with excitement reminiscent of the moons reflection of its beauty on the ocean waves. There is an abundance of steamy, titillating intimate encounters and suspense as the secrets of Kindred Fallen unfold.

Kindred Fallen is a series I plan to follow and anticipate this series will mushroom into a paranormal lover’s frenzy.
