Cheri on Top, written by Susan Donovan, is a delightful addition to the Romance novel community. I was first attracted to this book because of the cover. With its eye-popping colors and stylishly modern look, I was instantly curious to see what was inside the pages. Like most romances, Cheri on Top revolves around love lost. and love renewed.
Main characters Cherise (Cheri) and JJ knew, and loved, one another when they were younger. When certain events drive them apart, their chance at a life together is squashed. Years later, with her business in the toilet, and barely surviving on dollar store Ramen noodles, Cheri's estranged grandfather calls her back home to run the family's small-town newspaper. Having no other place to go, Cheri takes her grandfather up on the offer, that is, until she discovers she'll be JJ's new boss.
Donovan's characters in Cheri and JJ are everything a die-hard romance reader will love. Their bickering, hate filled spats, and even steamier make-ups, will leave the readers fanning themselves. and then asking for more. Both Cheri and JJ have qualities about them that annoyed me. I must admit. Then again, no book character can be perfect, so when I allowed myself to put myself in their shoes I really liked them.
Cheri on Top is a great addition to any personal book collection, and a great addition to the fun and sexy Romance genre.
