What an unexpected gem I have found in Any Man of Mine by Rachel Gibson. I knew going into this read that I'd more than likely "like" it. I've always enjoyed romance stories, but they usually become one of the ton. Most of them somehow get forgotten in the sea of other romance stories; however, this one is definitively on a different level.
Without giving away spoilers, because boy is there ever surprises in store for the readers, I'll cover some of the reasons why I loved Gibson's book. For starters, not everything is as it seems. Yes, everything that the synopsis says is true, but Gibson starts Any Man of Mine after the wedding has already taken place. In fact, this book starts years after Autumn and Sam were married. Within the first few pages I caught on to the fact that Gibson was going to craft this story in a way that allows emotions and depth to spill across each page.
Sam and Autumn's love is not cheesy, fast, and ridiculous to be believe. Their story may have started off fast and hot, yet their romance and love truly begins after time has allowed each one of them to mature. Each of these characters needed time to grow and to find themselves before they were ready to commit to something as big as marriage. Gibson fantastically captured the emotions of Contemporary Romance meets real life.
Also, Gibson knows her audience. She knows her readers are expecting heart pounding, hot-and-sweaty, love. She delivers. Gibson also delivers the sensitive, heartbreaking, heart-melting, and every other kind of heart matters. She's taken the story of two characters: Sam and Autumn, and has woven a beautiful story of love, loss, and love again around them.
I know I will be rereading this one again! If readers are looking for the perfect book to cozy up with, whether it is in the house, the beach, or park; Any Many of Mine is the book to read.
