The Demonists

Book 1

This was a really good start to a new urban fantasy series. John Fogg and his wife Theodora Knight are paranormal investigators with their own television show. Theodora is a psychic and John is an exorcist. One night a case goes horribly wrong, killing their entire crew and leaving Theodora in a catatonic state while being possessed by a host of demons. John is the only one spared and he soon realizes there is much more to this incident than an unfortunate accident. John is soon thrown into a huge conspiracy as he tries to save his wife's life.

I thought this was well done and I found the premise really interesting. As with any urban fantasy type book there is a lot of world building to be done in the first book. This was well written and kept me engaged. There were a lot of characters but I found it easy to keep up with them and I liked John as the main character quite a bit.

The story starts off with a bang and the energy and fast paced storytelling keeps pace right up to the end. I thought this was a fun read and I think fans of this genre will really enjoy this.

John sets out on a desperate quest to find a cure for his wife, but his obsession brings him face-to-face with an even more terrifying problem: Theodora’s possession is only one piece of a deadly plot that is threatening the entire world.
