This is the third book in this series and my favorite so far. I really enjoyed this story. In this episode Elliot is out of rehab and working on putting his life back together. Things are difficult but he's more settled. He's staying with Tori and Allen and while he's there he encounters Auggie, one of the men remodeling the kitchen. The two men are attracted to each other from the beginning but Auggie has a horrible secret he's keeping and the relationship they begin in built on really big lies.
Once I started this I couldn't put it down. The writing was really well done and the pace of this story was perfect. I loved both of the main characters and despite Auggie's big secret I liked him. I understood where he was coming from and why he made the choices he did. Elliot I wasn't too sure about from the previous two books but I really felt for him in this book. I came to really enjoy his character. The author didn't give him any free passes, he suffers the consequences from his previous mistakes in pretty serious ways. All of the characters from the prior stories were here and in fact one couple has a pretty important side story.
Everything flowed well and I thought there was just the right mix of relationship building, friendship stories, humor, angst and smexy times. Everything about this story worked for me.
This story can be read as a standalone as the events you need to know about are mentioned thoroughly enough to follow along with. I think though that reading the previous books, at least the one right before this one, would add to your enjoyment as it lays the foundation for a lot of what goes on in this book. A really enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend to fans of the series and new reader alike.
The last time Elliott fell in love, his fiancé cheated on him. Now fresh out of rehab, Elliott's confidence lags behind his libidoénot that that stops him from lusting after the sexy carpenter working on his kitchen—from a distance. He won't risk his sobriety on another potential broken heart.
As half of an experienced home renovation duo, Augustus expects this job will be easy. Until he sees the house's tenant, a man he never thought he'd meet—his ex's other man. Augustus knows he should say something about their secret, shared past, but he's tongue-tied by their intense, unwanted attraction.
Despite attempts to keep things professional, the two men give in to temptation and forge a genuine connection—and his developing feelings for Elliott leave Augustus in an impossible situation. If he stays, his secret will always hang over the relationship. But telling the truth might send Elliott spiraling to a new rock bottom and cost Augustus the only man he's ever really loved.
