Overexposed

In Focus

This was an excellent addition to the In Focus series. Levi has suffered a major loss in his life and has decided to hike the Appalachian Trail to try to sort through his grief. He's at a cross road in his life and has no idea what he's going to do once he's done with his hike. Along the way he meets another hiker, Thad, who appears to be as rudderless as Levi is. The two young men begin hiking together and slowly they begin to open up to each other. Both are in emotional pain and at first they appear to be each other's balm. Unfortunately things are more complicated than they seem.

I really loved both of the MC's in this story. We had met Levi before in the last book but we find in this that he is quite different than the glimpses we previously saw. He's a really nice guy going through a really hard time and you can't help but feel for him. Thad was intriguing from his first on page scene. He fascinated me and the author does a great job giving you bits and pieces of his back story which are like a following a trail to who he really is. A trail I couldn't follow fast enough. The author uses text messages to an unknown someone that really just drew me in. I couldn't read fast enough to find out what was going on. There was some angst in this book but the situation felt really realistic. I felt that both guys reacted in ways I could totally understand.

I thought this was really well written and everything about it worked for me. The writing style, the plot, the MC's, the steam level, the romance, all of it. Really good stuff.

While this is the fourth book in a series this can be read as a standalone. If you're already a fan of this series I think you're going to really like this one. If you've never read it I highly recommend you start it.
