My Heartache Cowboy

Jimmy wakes up in his best friend's truck disoriented and confused. He looks out to see where he is and instead sees Eddie in the arms of another man and very obviously in the throes of passion. Jimmy still has no idea where he is or what's going on but he does know that seeing Eddie with another man does not make him happy.

When Eddie finally rejoins Jimmy he explains that their friends and employer have decided to give Jimmy some tough love and he's taking him somewhere to detox off of alcohol and to get sober. Jimmy is, of course, outraged.

What follows is the story of two men who have been best friends for 15 years but who in many ways barely know each other. Jimmy struggles with his indecision about whether he wants to stop drinking while Eddie struggles with his anger over Jimmy's behavior over the last few months. They both struggle with their feelings for each other. They have wasted a lot of time by not being honest with each other or with themselves.

This was my first time reading this author and I was pleased with the book. The story was interesting and both of the main characters were likeable. I found myself rooting for them to work out their issues and get together. There was a ménage relationship in a portion of the book that I admit I did not see coming. I thought it was done well. Often these type of scenes are in books are just thrown in to titillate but this one added to the plot and was a valid part of Eddie and Jimmy's relationship. There were a few parts I would have like to have seen expanded on. Their issues were pretty complicated and seemed solved awfully easily. Overall I found this to be a good read and I think if you enjoy the male/male you will enjoy this sweet love story.
