If you're looking for a unique and creative urban fantasy you should run and buy this book now. What a great story this was. I loved the world the author created. The story starts when our heroine Camilla is murdered. At the scene a man named Harold shows up and offers her the chance to stay alive (kind of) if she is willing to take the job as Karma. Camilla is overwhelmed and doesn't really understand, so she says yes.
The world she is thrown into is something I would have never dreamed up. Harold is essentially middle management and he manages a cast of interesting characters. There is Murphy's Law, Lady Luck, Death, Cupid and the Cat Lady, just to name a few. (Who's the Cat lady? She's the one who sends black cats into your path). While Camilla/Karma tries to learn her new job she is also trying to solve her own murder. She is paired up with Fate and she hates him. Oh and she is also incredibly attracted to him and she hates herself for that.
This story had it all. A great plot, some really funny moments and a slow sizzle romance. I was immediately drawn into the story and once I started I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
People say karma's a...well, you know. Personally, I don't think I'm that bad.
It's not like I wanted this job. I wasn't even in my right mind when I accepted the position.
Now, I'm surrounded by crazy coworkers like Lady Luck, who's a bit of a tramp, and Murphy's Law, who's a bumbling oaf. But the worst is Fate. He's got a problem with transfers like myself, and I have to see him constantly. It's unavoidable. We're hunting the same man, my murderer.
Author Note: This is an urban fantasy, with a continuing storyline. Although there is a romantic interest, this is not a romance.
