Embracing His Syn

Sergeant Corbin 'Syn' Sydney has recently begun working with the Atlanta Narcotics Task Force. He is just getting to know his coworkers when they are assigned a murder case of a local porn star. At the same time he has been hanging out at a local bar trying to get the attention of the hot bartender Furious. Just when it looks like the two might hit it off Syn finds out Furious works for the porn company and is a suspect. In addition Furious is hiding from an abusive ex-husband who catches up to him in the middle of the investigation.

I have a friend who read this book and really liked it. For me it just didn't work. These two characters were full of angst and drama and tweenish behaviors. There was a lot of drama and then instant "He's the one for me, I can't live without him". That was coupled with the fact that I had to completely suspend all reality to follow the story. These cops were all sleeping with each other and sleeping with suspects and beating up the bad guys instead of arresting them, etc. It was all accepted norm at this whacky police station. There were also some editing issues. I rarely comment on these as I'm sure I would make a ton myself if I ever write something, but these were pretty glaring and I was already annoyed at the above mentioned things. So I was more nitpicky. In example the character "sinced" someone was in his apartment.

On a positive note the characters had some funny lines and more than one made me laugh out loud. Also the sex scenes were hot. It was pretty unrealistic, but hot never the less. If you're looking for something lighter and smexy this may be a good choice. It's not for those looking for a more complicated, serious story.

Book Blurb for Embracing His Syn

Sergeant Corbin 'Syn' Sydney had dedicated his life to becoming the best detective. So when he heard there was an opening on the notorious Atlanta Narcotics Task Force, he jumped at the chance. But, what he wasn't ready for was realizing just how lonely he’d made himself, when he observed the loving and dedicated relationship between the two men he served under: Lieutenant Cashel ‘God’ Godfrey and Lieutenant Leonidis Day.

Syn prepared himself to accept his lonely fate until he walked into a small pub and met the long-haired, tattooed bartender, Furious Barkley. Before Syn can even understand why, he’s overcome with feelings he barely recognizes: passion, yearning, craving. And if the dark, lustful gazes are anything to go by, Furious might be feeling the same things for him.

Just two thing needs to happen before Syn and Furi can give each other what’s been missing from their lives for so long... Syn needs to find the evidence that proves Furi’s innocence of murder, as well as protect him from a past that refuses to let go.

God, Day, Ronowski, and Johnson are still as entertaining as ever...

You'll swoon over God's massive take-charge attitude...

You'll laugh hysterically at Day's never-ending wit...

You'll fall in love with Furious' mysterious, sexy demeanor...

and...

You'll embrace Syn...
