When Reyvor lost his mate, he was kicked off of his home world. Now he spends his time on Earth riding around on his motorcycle, lost. But when he sees Hazel and her three daughters trying to find food in the dumpster behind his hotel, he jumps at the chance to save this petite, lovely woman from the hotel manager’s wrath. Building trust and love will be hard, but Reyvor’s got three little girls on his side and he’ll stop at nothing make Hazel and her girls his.
I love Smith’s alien novels. I’ve been reading Smith’s work for years and her Intergalactic Brides / Affairs / Loyalties are a couple of my favorites of hers. This book goes right up there as one of the best in the series. It was short, but not so short that the characters were lost and had no personality.
You really become attached to Hazel and Reyvor because they’ve lost and suffered so much. Throughout the book you root for them to make it! If you haven’t read the other books then you might be a little lost, though Smith does a great job and bringing the information given in the first couple of books to this book without making it seem redundant. But I do recommend that you read them in order, seeing as you are introduced to Reyvor in another book so you already have a picture of him in your mind.
The emotions were another great thing about this book. There were so many of them and they were very well written. I think Hazel’s three little girls really stole your heart and you fell in love with the whole family.
There was good conflict as well, and several different kinds. You had Hazel against the world, her ex, her girls, and Reyvor. You’ve got Reyvor fighting against his own kind, his instincts, and his anger/sadness.
Overall I think that this is a great story that really brings home the feeling of several different emotions (anger, love, and sadness just to name a few) and is probably one of the sweetest romance’s in the Intergalactic Brides series.
Kicked off his home world after losing his mate, Reyvor has made a place for himself on Earth, spending his afternoons drinking and his nights cruising the streets on his Harley. But all of that is about to change. A commotion outside of his motel room just may turn out to be his saving grace.
Hazel has lost everything, but she'd do it all again if it meant escaping the abusive boyfriend who liked to beat on her three girls and herself. Dumpster diving has never been her favorite thing to do, but she doesn't have a penny to her name and her girls are starving. But when she's caught, something miraculous happens.
Reyvor knows right away that the petite woman with the large blue eyes needs him. When he hears that this little ragtag family hasn't eaten in days, he convinces Hazel to accept a warm meal and a place to stay for the night. The girls warm his heart and remind him of what he once wanted out of life. Is it too late to start over?
Hazel is hesitant to trust anyone again with her heart, but Reyvor is determined to make her his. What's an alien to do when all he wants is a loving family to call his own? He'll break down her defenses one by one, until she melts against him and begs for his kiss. But can he claim the feisty Hazel without completely losing his heart to her?
