Review:

This is part of Ms. Grace’s “Tales of the Citadel” series and its book number 51 but that doesn’t mean that you need to go out and find books one through fifty. The great thing about Ms. Grace’s writing is that she gives you just enough background so that you know what’s going on, but not so much that if you’ve read the other books, you’d be bored. So you can read them out of order and willy-nilly.

One of the things that I really liked about this book was the determination of Brenn. In the beginning her life isn’t that great and you get the sense of depression from her. But’s she’s still strong. All of Ms. Grace’s heroines are strong, which is another great thing. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have moments of weakness and Brenn’s life is anything but good, especially with her living with her dad.

When Brenn meets Dret things change, and there is a new side to her which the reader can see. She is open and the characterization of her changes. Ms. Grace does a great job of making Brenn a fully rounded character and you can’t help but fall in love with her or with Dret.

If you haven’t read any of the “Tale of the Citadel” then I highly suggest that you do. What are you waiting for? Do it!
