You’ll find three short adventures in this picture book that features Giraffe and his friend Elephant. In the first one Giraffe is driving Elephant bonkers by playing his alpine horn. Elephant helps her musical buddy figure out when he can play his horn without disturbing everyone.
The second tale finds the two friends constructing a toboggan, but the only problem is there are no snow covered hills where the pair lives.
The final story features Elephant planning a surprise party for Giraffe. The only hitch is, Elephant tells her friend she is planning a surprise party and asks him to make a gift list of things he wants. That kind of negates the “surprise” part of the affair!
This animal pair are certainly a cute duo, although their odd adventures are rather silly. Children will like the illustrations, but if you want more story content try someone like Mo Willems and his wildly popular Piggy and Elephant series!
Elephant has a lot to say about surprises-about surprise alpine horn serenades, and surprise toboggans, and surprise parties.
And while Giraffe doesn't have a lot to say about surprises, or anything else, he always seems to get the last word.
With surprising wit and humor, Paul Gude brings back delightfully earnest Elephant and her quiet friend, Giraffe, for three new (and surprisingly silly) adventures that will leave readers laughing and asking for more!
