Beyond the Velvet Rope

Club Babylon, #1

Thandie Shaw takes a temporary gig down in Miami to promote club Babylon. Club owner Elliot is convinced to hire Thandie although he has a policy to never hire women. Before long, sparks fly and they find themselves entangled in some kind of relationship. Thandie, however is not sure what she has gotten herself into. Elliot is a club owner and always surrounded by numerous women. As time goes by she is feeling less and less like the strong independent woman she is use to being.

Thandie and Elliot did not have that many real romance moments in my opinion. There were so many club scenes and sensual elements that it seemed to lack true love. There wasn’t much of a getting to know each other phase or dating scenes. And while there was hints to Elliot’s true self and feelings there were never any real moments where they discussed feelings of love. It seemed more of lust.

While we are usually confused about a hero or heroines behavior and later are told all the details and made to feel more secure, I never did feel secure with Elliot. There was never much clarity with Elliot. When light was shed on the situations that had arisen, I still had so many questions that went unanswered.

Welcome to Club Babylon: where the A-list VIPs come to play

Scoring a gig at Miami's Club Babylon is a fantasy come true for New York promoter Thandie Shaw. The hottest club on the strip is a magnet for major South Beach movers and shakers. And Thandie's about to meet the biggest player of them all.

Babylon owner Elliot Richards is macho, arrogant, sexist—everything Thandie doesn't want in a boss or lover. Elliot is also the most erotic man who's ever wanted to take her to bed. But Thandie's no fool. Even as he tries to seduce her into a world of intense and shocking passion, she knows it's too good to last…especially after she uncovers Elliot's explosive secrets.

Thandie's going down a dangerous road, and she's risking a lot more than her career. Torn between doubt and desire, will she have to pay the ultimate price?

Darkly sensual and deeply moving, Beyond the Velvet Rope takes you into a world of uncontrollable desire and unexpected consequences.
