First off, I would suggest you read the “Lowcountry Summer” series books in order. I was a bit lost because I didn't do this. I wish I had. This is the fourth book in the series.
This book is a summary of the three prior books and the happy things that happened after the trilogy. Mamaw, Carson, Eudora and Harper are those who readers get to know well in the trilogy. By this book they have become the reader’s friends. For those already reading this series these people exist and live on to the point that you want to know more about them. This book does a great job of giving you the “more” you have been waiting for. The author gives us new substance in this book.
In this book we get the chance to know more about our Muir women, their feelings and their trials and happiness. Somehow the reader gets to relate more and more with their lives.
We get to be in on the planning of the wedding and all the decisions that need to be made. As the pages are turned, you are forever surprised with the added icing the author adds. I liked this book, it hits the heart. It will make the emotions rise.
Wedding season has arrived in New York Times bestselling author Mary Alice Monroe’s next novel in the “distinct, complex, and endearing” (Charleston Magazine) Lowcountry Summer series, set against the romantic, charming Charleston Lowcountry.
Nothing could be more enchanting than a summer wedding—or two!—in Charleston’s fabled lowcountry. A centuries-old plantation, an avenue of ancient oaks dripping moss, a storied ballroom, a sand dune at sunset…
Yet when a stranger arrives, a long held family secret could silence the bells ringing for the Muir sisters. Scandals surface, family bonds are questioned, and promises are broken and renewed. In A Lowcountry Wedding Monroe delves into the heart of marriage, commitment, and family ties. Huffington Post calls the Lowcountry Summer series “the perfect beach read and a whole lot more.”
