Elle has lost her family to Typhoid and her sister in law is forcing her to marry a man she does not want. She has to get away.
Jared has lost his parents and in doing so has been burying himself in work on the ranch.
The characters in this story are wonderful. The reader will have no problem loving the interaction between the two. Elle is brought to the ranch thinking she will be cleaning and cooking. Jared's grandmother has found Elle's newspaper ad and knows she will be the right mail-order bride for him. He goes to the train station to pick her up and they instantly have a connection.
They have some funny moments with the food as Elle has no cooking skills what so ever and some funny scenes take place. With Jared’s grandmother helping her Elle becomes a great cook and impresses everyone. She is more shocked and impressing herself.
I would have liked to see more into Elle than her chores but overall it was a wonderful short, clean story.
