There were outlandishly funny laugh-out-loud moments, especially with Angel’s volunteer position as an Acorn troop leader, the boys’ need to re-motto the town, and Taryn’s “girl’s night”. There were also a few heartbreaking moments when the two shared their past. I liked that Taryn let Angel talk freely about his wife and son and was supportive instead of making him feel bad for loving them. Overall, I thought that the book was excellent, the story flowed and there was always something going on to keep your attention focused.
Angel Whittaker is haunted by his past and punishes himself for an accident that he couldn’t have prevented. He may not be completely happy with his current life, but at least his heart is safe (he thinks). With her position (and partners) at the PR firm Score Taryn Crawford has developed a spine of steel and the ability to take care of herself. But when Angel approaches her with an outrageous declaration, Taryn finds that sometimes steel can bend…and it might just be ok to let someone else be in charge.
Angel had admired Taryn from afar since he first spotted her and finally decides the time was right to let her know he was interested in her. WOW at the way he lets her know! With an opening like that, I knew this would be an excellent addition to the Fools Gold family. I like that both Angel and Taryn acknowledged their mutual attraction and the flirty game that followed really amped up the chemistry between the two. I believe that these two are my favorite couple so far!

Even in four-inch heels, Taryn never backs down. Unless, somehow, Angel can convince her that surrender might feel even better than victory.
