Looking for a novel with a romance as well as lots of twists and turns? “Strawberry Wine” will definitely keep you wondering what will happen next! I liked how the author was able to give us an emotional story that was told using 'flashbacks'. We got to jump right into a first love and heartache. We get to see what happens as Addy and Jake meet again. “Strawberry Wine” is a small town romance where two people get to rediscover that they still have a bond between them.
The main characters are Addison [Addy] and Jake. They give the reader one sweet love story. Getting these two together was simply a work of art. I like how Darly Jamison gives the reader witty banter. It was delightful. It just felt so real.
I enjoyed how this story deals with the prologue, then the past, as well as the present. Plus we get an epilogue. Yes, this story will skip around so be aware of that and in the end you get these two peoples story. Expect to smell the intoxicating strawberry wine. This is one read that you may find yourself tearing up with. But you also get smiling and also laughing!
This book also has secondary characters that are well developed. They are also relatable. One of my favorite people was Addy's grandmother, Mags. She who was a serious matchmaker, cook extraordinaire and an advice dispenser. She was all of that rolled up into one giving woman.
Oops, I don't want to leave out another character I liked. Ruby brought so much to this read.
"Strawberry Wine" will give the reader a sweet and spicy love story. We get to tag along as Addy and Jake navigate through tender moments and heartbreaks.
How do you know if a first love is made to last?
Addison Monroe was eighteen when she fell for Jake Grady, a college student working on her family’s farm for the summer. With his sapphire eyes and killer smile, Jake could have had any girl in Lakeside, Georgia. But he wanted Addy, and for those brief, wonderful months—before circumstances drove them irrevocably apart—they belonged to each other.
Ten years later, Addy is engaged to a doctor and working in Atlanta as a physician’s assistant. Life feels full and satisfying. Yet memories of that long-ago summer and wine-flavored kisses are hard to shake. On a return visit to Lakeside, Addy crosses paths with Jake again, and soon finds herself at an unexpected crossroads. So much has changed, and Addy has chosen another route. And the magic of first love can never be rekindled...can it?
