Along Came a Rogue

The Secret Life of Scoundrels, #2

Anna Harrington historical romance “Along Came a Rogue is part of the “The Secret Life of Scoundrels” series. In this installment, we have to main characters who have been scarred by life. The hero, Nathan, and the heroine he loves, Emily. There are also some very hot sexual scenes that might make some readers uncomfortable while reading them.

First, of the all the hero, Major Nathan Grey, is an orphan who flitters at the edges of aristocrat class (AKA the “ton”). The “ton” looks down on people who are not of their class and those people who cannot show their lineage through the ages. Since Nathan cannot follow his family tree back in history, he joined the army and became a war hero. The “ton” tolerates him now since he has friends in the aristocracy.

Our heroine, Emily, is the daughter of a Duke. Her family tells her to marry a nice, young aristocrat. Well, Emily’s husband turns out to be a philandering gambler always on the run from his creditors when he isn’t drinking the night away. He never comes home.

Sex? Yes, there are some very hot sex scenes in this book. Jump right in on page one! Nathan is at the opera with a married woman on the floor in front of him. So if you are timid you might not want to read this book. The scenes are not hardcore graphic but are very suggestive in their descriptions.

Last, this story flows from beginning to the end with no grammar or typing errors that could have slowed the story down. However, I thought that some of the conflicts between the two main characters felt far-fetched and that they would have never occurred in real life since Emily is the daughter of a Duke.
