Author Sandra Orchard has created a new mystery series that had me reading into the night! I could not wait to read what her new heroine, Serena, was doing while she was investigating the art theft. I also wanted to figure out who was the villain(s) who had stolen the paintings from the art museum since I knew who it was one moment and then the case totally blew open on a mistake.
First, Serena Jones has been on the job as a FBI agent working in the Art Crime department Lab when she gets her first undercover assignment in Buffalo. She went undercover to break up a ring of art thieves; the FBI needed her to authenticate and buy the paintings from the thieves. When that job was over with, Serena went home to St. Louis, and visited her parents: a British mother and her father a college professor. The next day she gets a call from one of her friends who worked as the security director at the art museum. After renovations were done at the art museum, Serena’s friend Zoe noticed that the art museum was missing a Monet and a Rijckaert. This is just the start to a compelling mystery that kept me up at night!
Next, the mystery itself had me reading into the night due to some twists and turns that made me think to myself I know who the thief(s) were until something happen that blew the case to smithereens such as a person not going on their trip and instead ending up dead!
Serena Jones has a passion for recovering lost and stolen art--one that's surpassed only by her zeal to uncover the truth about the art thief who murdered her grandfather. She's joined the FBI Art Crime Team with the secret hope that one of her cases will lead to his killer. Now, despite her mother's pleas to do something safer--like get married--Serena's learning how to go undercover to catch thieves and black market traders.
When a local museum discovers an irreplaceable Monet missing, Jones leaps into action. The clues point in different directions, and her boss orders her to cease investigating her most promising suspect. But determined to solve the case and perhaps discover another clue in her grandfather's murder, she pushes ahead, regardless of the danger.
With spunk, humor, and plenty of heart-stopping moments, Sandra Orchard gives readers an exciting string of cases to crack and a character they'll love to watch solve them.
