When the family salvage business ends up in trouble due to bad decisions and poor management, Kate Donnelly finds herself returning home. Still haunted by the tragedy that claimed her family when she was seventeen Kate has little choice but board the ship and take part in the dive to recover the pirate wreck.
Holden Cameron, former British military expert, has been sent to babysit the Donnelly family. While the treasure belongs to Britain, they have a feeling that the Donnelly’s are saving some for themselves. Although he never expected to fall for the female Donnelly especially since there is a mystery and murder afoot.
While the premise of the novel was interesting, I felt this read more like a full out romance rather than the romantic suspense it was labeled to be.
It seemed like every time Holden and Kate were together, they were ripping each other’s clothes off and the suspense was limited to the end of the book rather than being balanced out.
And I felt as though I almost needed a glossary of dive terms because the book was loaded with them and I found myself stopping to look up what the characters were talking about then losing track of the plot at hand.
What I liked about the novel was that both characters grew as the novel progressed, although Kate’s progress was documented a little better.
Overall, this was a great book but remember to keep your iPad handy to look up those terms.
