Madelyn "Maddie" Temple is a brilliant doctor, with a lot of secrets. Dr. Jarred Keith is Chief of Psychiatry at the hospital the two work at and has some pretty serious feelings for Maddie. Maddie and Jarred also seem to share a special psychic link. Which only grows as they embark on a journey to save Maddie's sanity and her sister's life.
Sarah Temple is Maddie's twin sister and has been in a coma for the past 10 years. At the age of 16, the girls lost their father to a car accident and Sarah lost her mind to a coma. But things have changed for Sarah, she's been brought out of her coma somewhat and is being used in some experiments.
Sarah and Maddie both have something most others don't. Psychic powers and abilities. The problem with those abilities is they were driving Sarah crazy and Maddie into a world of numbness. After the car accident, Maddie went on to become a doctor and Sarah became a comatose lab rat.
Unfortunately the experiments were to turn Sarah into a weapon by using her abilities to make others do things they wouldn't normally do, through their dreams. Luckily for Sarah she has a savior. His name is Dr. Richard Metting and he is a member of a brotherhood established to protect the Temple women and their legacy. He's also deep undercover trying to keep Sarah from being turned into the weapon others want her to be. Richard also happens to be in love with Sarah.
When things begin to go wrong the twins and the men who love them will face a firestorm of psychic powers, past memories and hurts and a future that could be very deadly for all involved.
Ms. DeStefano has crafted a complex and compelling tale that encompasses a lot of "What If's". You will be wondering till the end just who the real bad guys are, and what is going to happen to the twins and their men. You'll be hoping for a happy ending but wondering if they'll ever get it. You'll be intrigued and question what you believe to be true about psychosis and psychic powers. And you will enjoy pretty much every page of this wonderfully written tale.
I only had one small issue with this work and that was the beginning. It was a little convoluted and hard to follow at first with all the switching back and forth. It was hard to tell who's mind I was in and who was doing what to whom. However, after the first couple of chapters it settled into a better pattern that made it easier to follow.
On a final note ... don't read this tale before bed. You will be a little affraid to dream and you will question your dreams when you wake up.
“Die!” scream her nightmares. The voice is her sister’s, the compulsion stronger than any ordinary dream.
Maddie Temple can’t go through this again. Her twin has been in a coma for the last ten years. Their psychic link was severed. At least, that’s what she thought.
