New Year's Wish

Mary is tired of the hum drum boring life that she has led so far, so when she is invited to a New Year’s Eve Party she decides that this would be a perfect way for her to create a new more exciting life for herself.

This contemporary erotic novella starts off slow but builds its way to a satisfying ending with lots of romance and even a bit of humor to keep the story light and fun. The author captured the imagination with well written scenes and details that make it easy for the reader to picture the story as it unfolds. What I was most impressed with was how the author was able to set the atmosphere, you experience the story as Mary feels: insecure, out of sort, and completely out of place. I was almost ready to stop reading the book because I felt the author spent too much time detailing Mary’s insecurities and obvious awkwardness in social settings, and then she finally meets Reid. After this the story becomes more structured, balanced, and vastly more entertaining than the way it began. It took me a while to come to this conclusion as I was originally going to write that this was a bad decision to write the story that way, but the more I thought about it after I finished the story, the more I enjoyed the story as a whole.

The attraction between Reid and Mary radiates heat from every page and the sex scenes are hot and steamy. What I liked the most about them is that Ms. Towers actually allows time for them to talk to each other before they have sex. So when they finally do have sex, it makes perfect sense for them to be together. I absolutely loved Reid and want one just like him. Mary is sweet and genuine and is somewhat relatable in that she does what everyone does during this time of the year. What made it most satisfying is that she actually goes through with her plan.

Like other stories that I have read by Ms. Tower in the past, I found this one to be an enjoyable and entertaining quick read with captivating characters. I need to have more of her stories in my life as soon as possible.
